The Band
In September of 2013, Gracie left the warm Florida sun to embark on a faith filled journey of the musical kind in the land of winter and donuts. Having performed and sang actively in choirs at school, churches and her local community theater since age 5, Gracie has always had an insatiable passion for music. The aspiring and ever growing singer-songwriter's early influences include everything from classics James Taylor and Joni Mitchell to modern day inspirations such as Paramore and Gungor. Now an elementary school aid by day and vocalist by night, Gracie finds herself ready to share her heart and voice with the world, or at least Boston.
Blessed with God-given talent at birth, Morgan, now 21, has always felt a strong call to share her musical gifts. After picking up piano in kindergarten and writing her first song in 2nd grade, Morgan has since added saxophone, guitar, clarinet, and electric bass to her music toolbox. Having directed, participated, and composed for numerous wind ensembles, choirs, musical theater productions, jazz and marching bands, and benefit shows, her passion for glorifying God through music spans far beyond genre limitations. Morgan left Springfield, IL in 2011 in order to attend Berklee College of Music, where she has been critiqued by the likes of Peter Eldridge of the New York Voices, Rhiannon, and Carmen Lundy. She has since switched majors at Berklee and graduated with a B.A. in Music Therapy. Morgan is now a credentialed Neurologic Music Therapist, with rehabilitative therapy experience at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, MA.
After 13 years of classical training as a violinist, including a few semesters in the conservatory-style program at Boston University, Emma needed a life change. Her love of literature led her to change degree programs, and that step out of the classical realm (now four years ago) has led her into a period of musical exploration. Working with Midnight Lantern is her first real stint with a band, but she is excited to apply her skills to a different genre, as well as develop in new areas.
Bassist Avery Miller was born and raised in Texas, but moved to Boston after high school to attend Berklee College of Music, where he met Morgan. In addition to Midnight Lantern, he has also played bass in many other bands, including pop band Florio, alternative grunge band Mike Cap and the Hazmats, and now sings in his own hardcore band, Indignant.
With over 11 years of percussing under his belt and experience with a multitude of bands, Joshua has put in well over his 10,000 hours of practice. Taught by a jazz drummer, and a lover of post, ska, and more recently, lasagna, he has his fair share of tastes that bring even more variety to an already wide menagerie of styles.
